Where do I start?

How do I start creating a course? I want to put resources and activities online for my classes so that they can access them from home and complete assignment for homework.

A few steps for setting up a basic course. (headings; links to websites; making resources available; adding a discussion forum; adding students)
  1. Request a course from your school administrator or myself. You will be assigned the role of teacher to that course.
  2. Go to your course and turn the editing on - this is always your first step.
  3. Edit the course summary by clicking on the "update summary" icon (usually a little hand holding a pen - depending on the theme you are using)
  4. Edit the topic 1 heading by clicking the "update" icon of that topic.

Each of the following will have a help sheet which you can access by clicking on the blue words.

  5. Adding some online content - a Book (Helppages Screencast)
  6. Adding a link to an external website to a topic. (Word Helpsheet; Screencast)
  7. Adding a resource (Word, Excel, Powerpoint ... any file that you might want students to download) to a topic. (Word Helpsheet; Screencast)
  8. Adding an assignment. (Word Helpsheet Screencast)
  9. Adding students to your course.(Link to forum post on this topic)
Next step would be to add activities like
